God at Work in the World

Friends, this week I gave you all “homework” to work on as you’re going about your daily business. How’s that going  for you? If you weren’t at church this week because of the holiday or illness, I encourage you to go listen to this week’s sermon at this link: https://soundcloud.com/charissa-clark-howe/may-28-2017-9-47-30-am Once you’ve listened to this week’s sermon, it’s time to jump in on this church-wide project!

Here’s our project in a nutshell:

Look for God working in the world around you. Look for evidence that God loves humanity. Look for evidence that God is working through the people around you. Try to see what mischief God is up to in your home, your neighborhood, and in the church! When you spot these things, I want you to document them in one of these ways so that we can use them in a collage that will be set up at church:

  • Take a photo! Nearly all of us carry camera phones these days, so it’s pretty easy to stop and grab a photo of something that stands out to us. If you don’t have a camera phone, consider carrying a good old fashioned camera with you! Either print the photos out and bring them to church on Sunday (we’ll have a few Sundays to do this), text them to Pastor Charissa at 412.219.2503 or email them to Pastor Charissa at [email protected].

  • Write down what it is that reminded you of God working in the world. There are small pieces of paper at the church that you can use on Sunday, or you can write it out on your own. Bring them to church on Sunday (we’ll have a few Sundays to do this), text them to Pastor Charissa at 412.219.2503 or email them to Pastor Charissa at [email protected].

  • Clip out newspaper articles, poetry, music, and other media you find that reminds you that God is working in the world. Bring them to church on Sunday (we’ll have a few Sundays to do this), text them to Pastor Charissa at 412.219.2503 or email them to Pastor Charissa at [email protected].

Here are some examples of things that struck me this week as I was looking through the recent photos on my phone. I can’t wait to see what you all come up with! God is moving, dear ones!
